With Foresight 2.0 reaching beta this morning, I am looking for help
in documenting and testing the Anaconda installer for Syslinux, as
well as GRUB.
Docs:
With Syslinux / extlinux being our new default bootloader, we need to
document why we switched (and are the first to ship with it). I'm
also hoping someone can install Foresight in a VM and take some
screenshots of installation. According to mkj, it has been tested in
setting up a dual boot with Windows as well, and I'd like to get that
documented.
For users using GRUB, especially with other distros, we need to
document how to set that up. While our focus is users new to Linux,
with the popularity of the dev kit, our recent infusion of former
Ubuntu users and the Shuttle announcement, I'm guessing we get some
switchers trying us out.
QA / Testing:
We've had a couple testers in IRC have questions on how to set up GRUB
to work with their other distros, and a few folks seem to have had
some issues. One bug that should be fixed with the beta release this
morning that includes the Anaconda templates is:
https://issues.foresightlinux.org/browse/FL-907. Can anyone confirm?
Extlinux: There is a bug reported
(https://issues.foresightlinux.org/browse/FL-872) that when removing
older kernels, Extlinux won't boot. Can anyone confirm?
Lastly, we have an Extlinux issue when using 3 hard drives. Anyone
have 3 in their machine to try and confirm?
https://issues.foresightlinux.org/browse/FL-923
I'm not an expert in this area, and need some help.
Thanks.
Paul
