Thanks, it was a major step to get comfortable with FSL, because
whatever distro I tried, there is always something missing, so it's
pretty much mandatory to be able to package up software by myself.

So you use rPath Linux 1 for your server?
The distinction between FSL for desktop/laptop and RPL1 for server use
is still not clear to me concerning packaging, because it was mentioned,
that RPL1 packages most likely will just work in FSL as well, but not
the other way around, because of FSL using a more up-to-date toolchain.
This means, if it is a common practice, to have FSL just for
desktop/laptop use, and RPL1 for servers, it would be logical to take
care to build desktop/gui apps for FSL (using the FSL toolchain), but
server apps for RPL1 (using the RPL1 toolchain). This sounds confusing,
and wouldn't be an issue, if RPL & FSL would use the same toolchain (but
I think this gets solved once RPL2 and FSL2 are out, right?).
The distinction of packages for desktop/laptop and server can get
difficult, for example:
sancho is a gui app, so it's logical to build for FSL. mldonkey is a
daemon typically run on a (remote) server, so this one should be built
for RPL1 then. On the other hand, mldonkey may also likely be used on a
(local) desktop, so on the same machine the gui is running (I had both
cases in the past myself). The same user scheme applies to mpd and other
daemon+gui apps.
So what to do? Create such a package (like mldonkey) for both, RPL1 and
FSL?
